Applications are now open for the MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) 2026, a fully funded 12-month film and television training programme for young African creatives. The academy is open to applicants from across the continent, including Nigeria, and is designed to equip participants with practical skills for careers in film and TV production.

The programme offers a structured learning experience that combines classroom instruction with hands-on production work, allowing participants to learn directly from industry professionals while working on real projects.

About the MultiChoice Talent Factory

The MultiChoice Talent Factory is a creative development initiative of the MultiChoice Group. It was established to train and support the next generation of African filmmakers, storytellers, and television professionals.

Through the academy, MultiChoice aims to strengthen Africa’s film and television industries by improving technical skills, storytelling quality, and professional standards. The programme focuses on building long-term capacity within the creative sector rather than short-term training.

Since its launch, MTF has trained young creatives from multiple African countries and contributed to the growth of local film and TV ecosystems across the continent.

What the Programme Offers

The MTF 2026 programme is fully sponsored. Participants do not pay tuition fees for the training.

The academy runs for 12 months, combining structured coursework with intensive practical filmmaking. Participants spend time learning core concepts and then apply those skills by producing film and television content under professional supervision.

Training areas covered include:

  • Scriptwriting

  • Cinematography

  • Directing

  • Production management

  • Post-production specialisations such as editing and sound

Throughout the programme, participants work on real productions, gaining practical experience that reflects the realities of the film and television industry.

Academy Locations

The MultiChoice Talent Factory operates four academies across Africa:

  • Lagos, Nigeria

  • Johannesburg, South Africa

  • Nairobi, Kenya

  • Lusaka, Zambia

Each academy hosts participants from several African countries, creating a collaborative learning environment that brings together diverse perspectives and storytelling traditions.

Certification and Facilitators

Participants trained outside South Africa receive university-accredited certificates upon successful completion of the programme. Partner institutions include:

  • Pan-Atlantic University, Nigeria

  • Kenyatta University, Kenya

  • University of Zambia

All facilitators at the academies are active film and television professionals. This allows participants to learn directly from practitioners who understand current industry standards, workflows, and expectations.

Who Can Apply

The programme is open to:

  • Young African graduates

  • Aspiring filmmakers and storytellers

  • Creative individuals interested in film and television production

  • Applicants willing to learn, collaborate, and contribute to African stories

While prior experience in film or media can be helpful, the programme is primarily focused on passion, commitment, and the ability to grow within a professional creative environment.

Application Requirements

Applicants are required to submit the following documents:

  • Curriculum Vitae (maximum of two pages)

  • Motivation letter (maximum of 500 words)

  • Valid passport and national identity document

  • Academic certificates and transcripts

  • Proof of residential address

  • Banking details (for South Africa applicants only)

All documents should be prepared carefully, as incomplete applications may not be considered.

Application Deadline

The deadline for submitting applications is 27 February 2026, by 12:00 pm.

How to Apply

Interested applicants should apply through the official MultiChoice Talent Factory application portal (multichoicetalentfactory.com/mtf-applications  ). All submissions must be completed before the deadline.

The MultiChoice Talent Factory 2026 offers a structured pathway for young Africans who want to build professional careers in film and television while contributing to the growth of Africa’s creative industries.
