Training centres, vocational institutions and skilled artisans planning to take part in the Federal Government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Programme 2026 must first secure accreditation from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).

Without NBTE approval, no centre, organisation or individual will be allowed to train TVET beneficiaries or receive payments under the programme.

Who Can Apply as a TVET Training Provider?

NBTE recognises three categories of training providers under the TVET programme:

  1. Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs)

  2. Skill Training Centres (STCs)

  3. Mastercraft Persons (MCPs)

Each category has specific requirements, depending on scale and training structure.

NBTE Requirements for Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs)

Institutions applying as Vocational Enterprise Institutions (VEIs) must meet the following conditions:

  • Valid Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) registration

  • Use of National Skills Qualification (NSQ)-based curriculum

  • At least one qualified instructor per trade, with a maximum ratio of 1 instructor to 40 trainees

  • One Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) per trade

  • One certified Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM)

    • Part-time engagement is allowed if full-time staff are unavailable

  • Adequate physical facilities, including:

    • Workshops, studios or field training areas

    • Classrooms

    • Offices

    • Toilets

  • Evidence of previous training activities, such as:

    • Past training programmes

    • Levels of skills taught

    • Certificates previously awarded

NBTE Requirements for Skill Training Centres (STCs)

Centres applying as Skill Training Centres (STCs) must provide:

  • CAC registration documents

  • NSQ-based training curriculum

  • At least one experienced instructor or senior artisan per programme

    • Instructor must hold minimum NSQ Level 3 certification

  • One Quality Assurance Assessor (QAA) per trade

  • One certified Internal Quality Assurance Manager (IQAM)

    • Part-time engagement is acceptable

  • Sufficient technical and support staff

  • Functional facilities such as:

    • Workshops or training areas

    • Offices

    • Restrooms

  • Records showing:

    • Previous training conducted

    • Certification history

    • Skill levels delivered

NBTE Requirements for Mastercraft Persons (MCPs)

Individuals applying as Mastercraft Persons (MCPs) must meet the following:

  • CAC registration or valid National Identification Number (NIN)

  • Use of NSQ-based curriculum

  • Minimum NSQ Level 3 certification as a skilled artisan

  • Training ratio of 1 qualified assistant to 5 trainees

  • Availability of:

    • Workshop or work area

    • Restroom facilities

  • Proof of past training experience, including:

    • Skills taught

    • Training duration

    • Certificates issued

How to Apply for FG TVET Training Centre 2026

All applications must be submitted online through the official NBTE TVET portal.

Application Steps:

  1. Visit the NBTE TVET application portal

  2. Select your category (VEI, STC or MCP)

  3. Complete the application form

  4. Upload all required documents

  5. Submit and await NBTE verification

Only approved and accredited centres will be listed and allowed to train TVET beneficiaries.

Important Note for Training Centres

NBTE accreditation is not optional. Training centres that operate without approval:

  • Will not receive government payments

  • Will not be allowed to train TVET beneficiaries

  • Risk removal from the programme
